Executing the Mission
- Worked tirelessly with P5 SPO and Cubic Engineers on the P5 System Security Update (SSU). He detected that the SSU Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) was not compatible with a P5 pod with a GNP-10 GPS receiver. During post TCTO testing he found that the pods were not displaying the correct GPS week, they were not calculating the additional 1024 weeks for the GPS week epoch rollover. When using the GNP-10 Week Fix Tool to correct this anomaly he found that the tool failed to communicate with the SSU pod’s GNP-10 GPS receiver.
- Relentlessly worked to solve SSU/GNP-10 incompatibility, swapping pods, GPS receivers, and chasing wires attempting to glean a fix. He determined that the P5 SSU pod worked with a DIGS GPS receiver but not a GNP-10. He further concluded that the same GNP-10 would not work on another SSU pod previously configured with a DIGS GPS receiver. While working with Cubic Engineers, they determined it was a wiring discrepancy with the SSU Kit’s new W13 cable that was the cause of failure. His work necessitated a worldwide halt to the TCTO culminating on new W13 cables manufactured and sent to the field.
- Crucial player in the successful flight testing of replacement W13 configured P5 SSU Pods. He modified 2 GNP-10 configured P5 SSU pods with the new W13 cable. Performed bench testing and loaded them on F15 and F16 aircraft for successful acceptance flight testing.
Improving the Organization
- Conducted comprehensive testing of US Navy owned P6 pods, the future replacement for our aging fleet of P5 Pods. His team received Kudos from P6 SPO Engineers in the successful accomplishment of P6 transmit/Spectrum Analyzer (SpecAn) screen capture and P6 TSPI unit reset. SpecAn recordings were an essential component for the approval of on aircraft Electromagnetic Interference Compatibility (EMIC) Testing.
- Supported aircraft P6 pod EMIC testing for F16, F15C, F15E, and F15EX aircraft. He accomplished comprehensive serviceability inspections, transported and loaded the pods on aircraft for S-Band EMIC testing, paving the way for future aircraft air worthiness flight tests. His work on P6 pods will not only improve the future of his organization but impact the entire Air Combat Training System’s Community for decades to come.
- Created a system of records to track individual pod equipment configurations within Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS). He created an IMDS pod configuration sheet for each pod, placed them in individual folders for rapid access for review during pod maintenance. He ensured 100% IMDS pod configuration reliability.
Managing Resources
- Eglin’s principal IMDS Pod database custodian. He led the way during the conversion from the Reliability Availability Maintainability for Pods (RAMPOD) system to IMDS. He validated and made necessary corrections to Eglin’s Pod inventory and internal configurations in IMDS ensuring a 100% accurate IMDS accountability.
- Professionally manages a manual Periodic Maintenance Inspection schedule for Eglin’s P5 pods. IMDS slow to allow input of scheduled maintenance tracking necessitated his manual tracking of 90 day and 180 day inspection due dates.
- Assisted in the 53rd Wings Financial Audit and Improvement Readiness (FAIR) P5 Pod Audit conducted in support of the DOD Inspector General. He escorted FAIR Auditors directing them where the pods were installed on the aircraft to show accurate pod location and accountability.
Leading People/Team Building
- Spearheaded his team in the effort to remove 28 P5 End Caps from assigned P5 pods and replaced them with SSU Modified End Cap (MECs). Due to the shortage of MEC’s the P5 SPO and Cubic requested a rapid turnaround of legacy End Caps so they can be modified into MEC’s, asked and delivered.
- Vital crew member of the Pod Load Team completed pod loads to support 2,430 aircraft P5 sorties this year flown on F-16, F-15C, F-15E, and F-15EX aircraft with only 23 non-effective for an impressive 99% effectiveness rate. His pod loading and pod maintenance actions supported the 96th Test Wing community’s dedicated test missions for SDB II Pride, Trident, IVEWS, F-16 M8-1 OFP, and JDAM valuable TSPI data was collected from P5 Data Recording Devices during these high priority test missions
- Supported P5 SPO and Cubic Engineering team investigating a DIGS and EDGE GPS unit keying issue Australia was experiencing. He led the way performing keying operations and functional testing GPS units with the GPS key Australia was attempting to utilize. The team concluded that the Annual GPS key was not compatible with those GPS units.

Self-Improvement
- Striving to achieve an Associate Certified Electronics Technician (CETa) Certification. Committed to a self-study program encompassing basic electronics theory and applications used in all electronics disciplines including electrical theory, test equipment, circuits, basic telecommunications, and work procedures to prepare for the CETa examination.
- Received hands on P6 pod familiarization and maintenance training from Test Engineers. Training covered pod basic familiarization, disassembly/assembly procedures, nose cone removal/installation, pod aircraft loading/unloading and Encryption Module removal and installation.
- He has become Eglin’s Subject Matter Expert on IMDS. Attended IMDS training for RAMPOD Users via TEAMS, where he garnered the knowledge to perform configuration changes, complete maintenance actions and accomplish Time Compliance Technical Order job operations in IMDS.
